Amish Furniture Solid Wood Arrow-Back Deacon's Bench Lancaster Collection Our charming Deacon's bench is practical bench that will suits every home or office decor. Solid wood throughout, the Arrow-Back Deacon's Bench is a classic that will be sure to impress friends and family. It will be an heirloom piece for generations! Handcrafted in the USA! The beautiful Arrow-Back Deacon's Bench is handcrafted using solid oak or cherry wood. The wood is carefully finished for a magnificent appeal. Sixteen different finishes are available for this Arrow-Back Deacon's Bench. The three foot bench is built without the center leg. The trend of "square backs" shifted to a wider top piece, hence the "slat back." The slat on this "slat back" is mortised into the post, with arrows between the seat and the slat. It was an innovation from before 1820.
