Amish Two-Tone Old Barn Wood Plank Table with Breadboard Ends - An Amazing Farm House Table!

Our rustic plank table is made from thick planks of tobacco barns boards, giving each table a unique charm. This piece will surely become the centerpiece of the room! A one of a kind table!

All of our old wood Amish furniture is made of handsome reclaimed wood to present an aged, Old World antique look in a new piece of furniture. We are concerned about the world and are proud to offer some of our Amish furniture in environmentally friendly recycled wood.

Reclaimed, unique old antique planks come back to life! This table is handcrafted by Amish woodworkers from recycled antique planks from old tobacco barns. These salvaged thick planks of old tobacco barn boards are naturally weathered and distressed. There will be grooves and saw marks and sometimes even nail holes which can be filled upon request. The wood is then finished in a hand process that has over 10 steps that bring out the distinctive character and look of the natural old wood.

Our all-time best selling table!

Our old wood plank table is highly popular for homes ranging from traditional to modern styles. Available with a 2" table top!

The Amish Two-Tone Plank Table is handcrafted from old pine wood planks, to create a rustic, unique look. The wood planks come in varying sizes. The planks running longways are glued together. The breadboard ends are attached to the planks using an old world technique of mortise and tenon construction. This is an extremely well-crafted plank table and is very durable!

Finish choice ONLY available on the table legs and skirt. The plank table top is finished with a stain to match the old wood finish and 5-10 coats of a matte poly-finish are applied for years of regular dining use.

Old wood has a distinctive charm in its look. There will imperfections in the old wood which just adds to the uniqueness of it. Each marking on the wood tells a story of where the wood has been. These screw holes, gouges and indentations add to the rustic charms of this table.

The old wood may have existing screws and screw holes, paint in grain and/or pine knots, and/or hairline cracks in the planks. These add to the rustic, farm look of the table. These screw holes can be filled upon request.

Since this plank table is made using old, antique planks it needs 5-10 coats of a matte poly varnish to achieve a smooth, even finish. The first 3 coats just soak right into the wood. Then the additional ones are needed to get a nice smooth even finish. Most of the wood comes from tobacco barns. Different types of oil and even smoke can be absorbed into the wood from curing the tobacco over the years. What the wood has absorbed over its life influences how much poly needs to be applied. The finish will not have a thick appearance even with so many coats, which adds to the unique charm of each table!

An additional benefit that comes with our plank table is that because it is made from refurbished wood, rather than virgin forests, it is an ecological choice!

The table legs and skirt can be finished in numerous paint choices. It is available with a Shaker or turned leg and several sizes. Paint samples are available for you to see before making your decision.

Extension boards are also available that attach to each table end.

Your one-of-a-kind plank table will be the conversation of every dinner party, and you'll enjoy it for decades to come!
Testimonial From Our Customers (View All)
Dear Kristina, I wanted to thank you for your excellent service on the purchase of our Amish bench. It arrived last week in fantastic condition. The packing company you use did an excellent job wrapping the benches and table to ensure no damage in transit. After the simple assembly of the legs, our table found its final resting place and we love it! Great craftsmanship. Thanks, Pete

Cottage Collection

Cottage Collection

If you're looking for a unique piece of furniture or decoration but still want a sense of warmth and welcome, our Cottage Collection is for you. This special collection of handcrafted pine furniture is built by an Amish craftsman and finished by a family business that has been in operation for nearly two decades. All the products are handcrafted from a blend of antique and new 'rough' materials to create a timeworn look. The antique materials are recycled from old barns and farmhouses. They are carefully selected for strength and durability, then treated, planed, and sanded in order to recover their original beauty. Because each piece is hand made from start to finish, no two pieces are identical. Please expect slight variances that exemplify the creativity in the process that makes every piece unique.

This collection includes hutches, cabinets, chests, end tables, entertainment centers, dressers and decorative shutters and panels, as well as numerous other unique pieces. The painting or carving that decorates this furniture portrays fish, flowers, herbs, animals and many other choices. This is completed by hand without using any machines. From this collection, you can select a theme of choice and pick from numerous decorations or furniture to fill a room unlike any other.

Custom Painting

Custom painting is available for all products. The following colors are available: country red, deep burgundy, federal blue, wickham green, concord green, sage green, cream, country white, bright white, khaki, pale yellow, mushroom and mustard. After they are painted, all products are distressed and then hand-rubbed with a finish wax for maximum protection. All hardware in the Cottage Collection is antique.

Care
Please do not use any furniture polish on these pieces because it will ruin the wax finish. Just wipe the furniture with a dust rag. If dirty, just use little water.

Shaker Furniture - A Legacy

We’re happy to offer you a wide variety of Shaker furniture, including Shaker chairs, Shaker tables, Shaker hutches and more! Our Shaker furniture is handcrafted according to tradition.

The American Shakers, striving for perfection on earth, left us with a lasting testament to their industry in the shape of their Shaker furniture. People today admire Shaker furniture and architecture because of its simplicity, honesty, grace, utility and sturdiness. Clean, elegant lines and honest functionality make Shaker furniture one of the most popular and enduring furniture styles among the general public as well as Amish woodworkers. By concentrating on form and function Shaker furniture was years ahead of its time - the precursors to the modern movement where order, harmony and utility are the objectives of good workmanship.

The Shaker movement of the 18th and 19th centuries in America was characterized by communal living, celibacy, public confession of sins, pacifism, belief in equality of all people, and daily living designed to bring about the kingdom of heaven on earth. The Shakers were known for their inventiveness, outstanding craftsmanship, industriousness, and spirituality. The Shakers sought to live separately from the "world’s people", and sought to produce all the goods needed for their own purposes and to produce income for the purchase of land. Many talents and occupations contributed to a legacy of fine craft and ingenuity, best known in their simple yet beautiful furnishings and tools.

When you purchase Shaker style furniture, you're buying more than a functional piece - you're honoring a legacy!

Solid Hardwood

At a time when mass production and the use of synthetics and veneers has become the standard, we offer you solid wood furniture, inside and out. Our craftsmen pay personal attention to detail, quality, and craftsmanship instead of volume. And because each piece is handcrafted, you can be assured that the furniture you purchase is made of the highest quality wood.

Our handcrafted solid hardwood furniture is generally available in oak or cherry wood. Some pieces are also available in quartersawn oak, hard maple, brown maple, walnut, hickory or birch. Please see the Quick Spec information above to find out what wood is available with this piece. The picture here shows the differences between the hardwoods that we offer.

Oak wood is a naturally light wood with a prominent grain, which makes groves in the wood that you can feel when you slide your finger across them. This grain is evident even with dark stains and usually appears darker than the rest of the wood. Knots may occasionally appear in the wood, which add to its character.  Oak has a strong heavy hook and the look isn't deceiving.  When finished natural it will have a pale blonde reddish cast, which overtime will oxidize to a golden honey color.  A great choice for staining.

Quarter Sawn Oak stains very well.  Beautiful irregular markings or flakes are a result of logs cut in a special way.  Quarter Sawn Oak is known for its amazing strength and firm texture.   Quarter Sawn Oak is a top choice for many of our customers!

Cherry wood has less grain and is quite smooth. A favorite for good reasons!  Cherry has many interesting characteristics.  Aging to a rich reddish brown color over time and often peppered with exotic black specs and swirling grain.  It has a natural light gold/red tone but can be stained to create many appearances. Cherry has very small knots that are dark in appearance and sometimes create a dip in the wood. Cherry naturally darkens with age and sometimes features contrasts in color. This is part of the charm of cherry, and should be expected. We recommend a light to medium stain on cherry wood.

Hard Maple is naturally a light wood with very little grain that is quite smooth. Maple mellows to beautiful golden tone overtime.  Occasionally flecked with naturally occurring black mineral deposits.  Maple is an excellent choice for strong durable furniture.  Maple can also be stained to create many appearances.   Dark stains may stain unevenly.

Brown Maple comes from the same logs as regular maple but is the darker heartwood.  Can be a smart choice for darker staining or painting.  It can stain unevenly.

Walnut is a dark wood with a medium amount of grain that makes slight groves in the wood. Even with different stains, the appearance of walnut does not change much. Knots may occasionally appear in the wood.  Walnut will bring extra elegance to any room.  If your tastes run more toward the formal, then the rich dark browns of walnut may be the way to go.

Hickory is a very hard and durable wood by mixing the color tones the finished product is a characteristic piece of natural art.  The appearance of natural hickory does vary from a very light appearance to a medium light appearance.

Birch grain sometimes has a curl which creates an iridescent effect.  Light to medium blond sapwood usually but not always contrasts against darker toned heartwood.  Curl can also cause uneven staining.  Will age to a golden color.

The beauty and durability provided by solid hardwood is undeniable. It provides several unique benefits:

  • Enduring value from one generation to another.
  • Natural warmth that synthetics cannot give.
  • Expression of each individual tree by its own unique color and grain.

Solid hardwood furniture can also be repaired if damaged because there is no veneer or artificial surface that can be scraped or rubbed through.

Hardwoods are a natural fiber. Therefore, even furniture that has a good protective finish may swell or shrink slightly from one season to another. With proper care, your solid wood furniture will bring you satisfaction for years to come.

Amish Furniture - American Made

We proudly sell Amish furniture that is handcrafted in the USA.

It is so important these days to buy American!  This is becoming harder and harder to do it because over half of the furniture in today’s marketplace is imported!  All of our furniture is handcrafted in the USA by skilled craftsmen using Old World techniques passed on for generations.  As a result, we are creating local family-friendly jobs for talented craftsmen, which in turn benefit the community. By carefully sourcing our raw materials, we avoid deforestation and uncontrolled pollution that is often allowed with overseas production.

There is something unique about American made furniture
, particularly furniture that is handcrafted by the Amish. Our woodworkers make fine furniture using small tools powered by generators and hands as they have for decades, according to time-honored traditions.

When you purchase our fine
furniture, you're buying an heirloom product that will last for generations. Additionally, you're supporting a cottage industry that is truly American - an investment you can take pride in.

Our customers take great pride in buying these American Made Heirlooms, knowing that their
furniture was made as a labor of love, not in some factory assembly line overseas. And we take pride in selling each handsomely crafted piece.

Our furniture and other products are handcrafted in a clean, safe, environmentally compliant work environment. Experience the difference of furniture made in the USA!

Amish Furniture Dining Tables

Amish Made Tables

While many American furniture makers lose way to foreign imports, the Amish are thriving in the furniture business in places like Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Holmes County, Ohio; and Shipshewana, Indiana. They’ve earned a well-deserved reputation for quality and value, practicing their art in places where American furniture has been made for generations.

Amish woodworkers may be the best known for their hand crafted tables. Our tables are made of solid wood, through and through. They are individually handcrafted and assembled in an Amish woodworking shop, not built on an assembly line or in a factory.

Our tables have a number of design features that showcase our Amish craftsmen’s deep understanding of wood and furniture making. All of our tables have a solid one-inch-thick table top for durability as well as an attractive appearance. Our tables include steam bent aprons with a slight gap inserted where the extensions fit to allow room for the natural contraction and expansion of solid wood. A number of our tables have apron gap covers to disguise the gap. Our Amish woodworkers use one of two assembly designs on their table legs: 1) the legs are inserted into the table frame with a mortise and tenon joint or 2) the legs are bolted to a v-groove corner block that is glued and screwed in place. Both styles provide extreme sturdiness and strength.

Along with their solid design and heirloom quality manufacturing, our Amish made tables are available in many styles and sizes. We offer leg, pedestal and trestle tables. We have elegant Queen Anne tables, casual farm tables and sleek Mission and Shaker tables, among many other styles. Our wide range of sizes offers options for those with tight spaces—very difficult to find in this age of over-sized furniture—as well as those preparing for large parties or family gatherings. Nearly all of our tables are available with extensions, some with up to 20 extensions for maximum versatility.

Our woodworkers choose the appropriate extension slides for the type of table to ensure ease in opening the table along with the proper durability. Most of our leg tables have wooden slides and our pedestal tables have gear slides. Many of the gear slides are equalizers, which allows for the table to be opened when just pulling on one end. This convenient function requires only one person to prepare the table with additional space and insert the extensions.

Our woodworkers then finish the tables in the stain of your choice with a catalyzed lacquer or varnish. It is chosen to withstand years of wear. We offer a wide variety of stain and paint options to closely match existing furniture or fit the décor preferences of the customer.

Our Amish tables are painstakingly made by hand, one piece at a time. Each table is individually crafted and inspected to become an heirloom quality piece of furniture that will awe your guests and be passed down to the next generation.

Amish Furniture - Built to Last

Our Pledge - Handcrafted Amish Furniture Built to Last

The quality of our handcrafted Amish furniture is second to none. It is handcrafted in small Amish woodshops throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio. The Amish believe that work is a gift from God. They exemplify this in their highest commitment to quality in materials and workmanship. They do not cut corners!

Our solid hardwood Amish furniture comes with a manufacturer's one year warranty. If any defect in the manufacturing of the product becomes apparent in the first year after its delivery, we will repair or replace the piece at no cost to you. This warranty does not cover damage to the furniture because of misuse. Of the thousands of customers we have served, we've only had a handful that needed a warranty service!

With proper care, your Amish furniture will last a lifetime - far beyond the warranty that we offer. In the rare occasion that a defect occurs, it is usually discovered well within the first year. At JMX, we pride ourselves in both the quality of our furniture and the care we give to our valued customers.
