Amish handcrafted furniture reflects trends found at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair

by Tom Grimes

The 22nd annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair took place last week in New York. The New York Times reports that the event, which showcases what designers and manufacturers are currently producing, was held in a 145,000 square-foot exhibition space.

While the fair featured the work of a multitude of both established and up-and-coming designers, there seemed to be at least one overarching theme. According to Wallpaper magazine, "This year's ICCF in New York was another solid show - quite literally, with an abundance of wooden furniture, natural materials and designs that will stand the test of time. Gimmicks were out and traditional American craft was in."

Homeowners who want to embrace this trend can fill their living spaces with Amish handcrafted furniture, as the pieces combine the beauty of natural wood with the artistry and craftsmanship of American design.

Those buying their first piece of Amish handcrafted furniture may want to start with one item that can become the room's focal point, like a large coffee table in a living room or a detailed armoire in a family room. Experts at HGTV state that the room's seating should be arranged so that one's gaze naturally and comfortably falls on the focal point.ADNFCR-3308-ID-19806075-ADNFCR
