Amish work ethic makes furniture premium and durable

by Tom Grimes

This summer, there will be up to six barn raisings across New York state, reports The Oneida Daily Dispatch.

Barn raisings are a unique tradition in the Amish community. One particular recent raising in Oxboro attracted over a hundred Amish men, some of them hiring drivers to make the trip all the way from Pennsylvania, according to the news source.

With this much manpower and expertise, the barn was raised in a single day, with onlookers telling the newspaper that the Amish "sure know how to get it done." At times, there were sometimes nine or more Amish men working on the roof.

In addition to barn raisings, there are some "frolics" planned, where Amish neighbors build sheds or smaller homes together. The news providier suggests that this communal dedication is a proud trait of the Amish people.

Those who are looking to capture a part of this timeless craftsmanship should invest in Amish furniture. Through generations of hard work and experience, the Amish people have perfected the art of crafting beautiful pieces for years to come. ADNFCR-3308-ID-19879140-ADNFCR
