Not only does this Mid Century Platform bed frame have the support of 16 solid-wood slats under your mattress, but they are also dovetailed at the ends to provide maximum stability (pictured below). 

Many lower quality bed frames come with compressed "wood" slats that lie lazily on the side rails. That style of support can cause the slats to move around like they are in a wave pool, making a quality mattress sag through the gaps and sometimes even fall through. In many cases the mattress struggles to sit evenly atop the cheaply-made slats and you are left with an uneven sleeping surface.
