Making a home green with Amish bamboo furniture

by Tom Grimes

Experts claim that making a house environmentally friendly can not only make a household healthier, it can also save money.

According to Gaiam Life, one of the easiest ways to start making a residence green is to change the air filters on air conditioners and heaters. These devices can be responsible for bringing dirty air into the house, while wasting more energy in the process.

A new refrigerator or dishwasher may also be an important replacement, as older models can be responsible for immense amounts of energy loss and, therefore, higher bills. The news source reports that replacing a refrigerator has the potential to save enough energy to light a home for almost four months.

Furniture selection may also be key in making a home greener. HealthLine.com states that many kinds of furniture are preserved with formaldehyde, which can cause coughing, irritation in the eyes or throat, and dizziness.

This chemical is often used in composite or synthetic materials, but Amish bamboo furniture is GreenSpec listed, with formaldehyde emissions that are less than .5 percent.

Amish bamboo pieces are 100-percent natural, which guarantees that they are eco-friendly and healthier for a home. Bamboo is a fast-growing, completely renewable resource that has also been cited as one of the most fashionable alternatives to classic, wooden materials. ADNFCR-3308-ID-19890831-ADNFCR
