Most heating units feature 5,200 BTU heaters. BTU stands for British thermal unit and is defined as the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. These heaters can warm up to 1000 square feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I control the temperature, and can I change the flame display?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You can change the temperature manually by pushing a button, but Amish fireplaces also come with a remote control that allows you to change the heat setting from the comfort of the couch.
