A console table provides a decorative display area to showcase photos, candles, flowers, keepsakes, plants, and things of the like. When used behind the sofa, it\u2019s a good place for a small lamp.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h2 class=\"rank-math-question\">Where to Put a Coffee Table?<\/h2><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">Coffee tables generally live in the living room and are placed in the center of the room in front of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/blog\/how-to-pick-the-right-sofa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sofa<\/a> where they\u2019re easy to reach. They are often between the sofa and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/blog\/tv-stand-and-entertainment-center-buying-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entertainment center<\/a> or TV stand. Some designs offer lower shelf and storage options, adding even more functions for storing games, candles, reading material, etc.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h2 class=\"rank-math-question\">Where to Put a Console Table?<\/h2><div class=\"rank-math-answer\"><a \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Console tables<\/a> (also called sofa tables) are often positioned behind the sofa but are also used against a wall or in the hallway or entryway. When placed behind a sofa, a sofa table should not be taller than the sofa back. When using a console table in other areas like a hallway or entryway where they stand alone, you can get creative with heights, shapes, and sizes.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h2 class=\"rank-math-question\">What is the Purpose of a Coffee Table?<\/h2><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">While it\u2019s true the coffee table adds a style element at the center of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/blog\/the-history-of-the-living-room\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">living room<\/a> or family room, the main purpose of a coffee table is to be a support and catch-all for items used or brought into the room. For drinks, snacks, remotes,\u00a0 phones, laptops, game boards, magazines, books, (and the list goes on\u2026), the coffee table is the place these items rest. It\u2019s the perfect host for living room activities. The coffee table is one we generally look to for high function, and even though it\u2019s not an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/Amish-Ottomans-Footstools\/cat\/223\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ottoman,<\/a> the coffee table has a history of serving as a place to put your feet up, which you definitely wouldn\u2019t do on a console table.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"structure-and-size-of-coffee-table\">Structure and Size of Coffee Table<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffee tables are lower than console tables to make it easy to reach for things while sitting near them. Their length should be shorter than the couch they are used to. Coffee tables come in all shapes and sizes, adding to the style of the room even though they are valued more for their function. They take up more space than console tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-faq-block\"><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">How Tall Should a Coffee Table Be?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">A coffee table should be the same height as the sofa seat or one to two inches below it.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The coffee table height should be the same as the height of the sofa seat or one to two inches below it. There are numerous widths and shapes to pick from, including the most common ones which are round, square, and rectangular. On average, the height of a sofa seat measures between 17 to 19 inches, so the average height of a coffee table runs around 16 to 18 inches.
