The Amish champion the many blessings of many children.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Amish parents consider their children their greatest earthly treasure. Children are welcomed as a blessing from God, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/blog\/everything-you-want-to-know-about-amish-families\/\" target=\"_blank\">large families<\/a>\u00a0are the norm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-faq-block\"><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">How do Amish People Have Kids?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">Babies are born in different circumstances, with home birth or birth at a local center which caters to Plain mothers favored by many, while others opt for conventional hospital deliveries.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Amish children enjoy the company of numerous siblings, meaning playmates are rarely scarce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside observers often comment that Amish children are remarkably well-behaved. Amish parents take what some might consider an old-fashioned approach and use physical discipline in most cases to shape their children&#8217;s behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-faq-block\"><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">How do Amish Kids Get Their Work Ethic?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">Furthermore, instilling a strong work ethic in their children is important in Amish families. Amish feel that this is sufficient to equip their children with the skills needed to thrive in Amish society.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Amish also feel that science and other classes taught in high school conflict with certain important religious beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one (or two) room Amish schoolhouse is a common sight in most communities, though some children attend public schools. Amish parochial schoolchildren are typically taught by young female Amish teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-faq-block\"><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">What do Amish Children Learn in School?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">The curriculum focuses on the 3 R&#8217;s, as well as geography, history, German lessons, and health classes in some schools.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">How are Amish Children Allowed to End School After Eighth Grade?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Amish children typically end school by age 14 or 15, a legacy of the 1972\u00a0<em>Wisconsin v. In some communities, Sunday singings provide a venue for Amish youth to socialize and also to find dating partners. Amish may refer to this time as \u201crunning around,\u201d or \u201cgoing with the youth.\u201d<\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">Is Amish Rumspringa as Wild as TV Makes it Seem?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><em>Rumspringa<\/em>\u00a0is another German dialect name given to this youth period, and despite the media depictions, in most cases, it is not nearly as wild as might be portrayed in the media.<\/span> Though some Amish youth do behave badly, engaging in alcohol, drugs, and parties, most do not. The purpose of this period, as\u00a0described by one Amishman, is to find a marriage partner.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Amish youth also decide to join the church during these years, with most, but not all, being baptized between the ages of 18 and 22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-faq-block\"><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">Can Amish People Marry Non-Amish People?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">The Amish do not sanction marriage between an Amish and a non-Amish person. Baptism is required for marriage in the Amish Church. <\/div><\/div><div class=\"rank-math-faq-item\"><h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">When do Amish Kids Get Married?<\/h3><div class=\"rank-math-answer\">Amish typically marry in their early to mid-20s, and shortly thereafter, most begin families of their own. They have similar concerns for their well-being, though compared to non-Amish society, less emphasis is placed on \u201cbook\u201d education, and more on learning essential values such as Christian morals, a work ethic, and working well with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Amish children grow older, Amish parents worry about their teens, and the influences they face, in a similar way to non-Amish parents.
