Yesterday was the Internet debut of the short documentary produced by DutchCrafters, \u201cEugene Alexander: The Fashion of Eugene Stutzman.\u201d It can be viewed at https:\/\/www.dutchcrafters.com\/video\/video\/eugene-alexander-fashion-film\/<\/a> as well as at the bottom of this blog post.<\/p>\n

So why did DutchCrafters Amish Furniture produce a documentary about a fashion designer?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have always acknowledged the pleasant irony of selling Amish furniture online \u2013 using the advances in technology to connect our customers to products made by people who shun most technology. By drawing upon our CEO\u2019s Amish and Mennonite heritage (as well as the heritage of several others of us) and combining it with the advancements of an ecommerce business, we have been able to bring authentic and long-lasting products to our customers in contrast to the cheap imported products that flood the Internet. Heritage served as a context for innovation.<\/p>\n

We saw a similar story in the couture creations of fashion design team Eugene Alexander. As we considered being a business sponsor for a fundraiser and art exhibit featuring Eugene Alexander dresses from their peak in the 1980s and 1990s, we saw an opportunity to celebrate Eugene Stutzman\u2019s innovative use of his Amish and Mennonite upbringing in the field of fashion design. We saw these American made dressers that look like new decades later and couldn\u2019t help seeing the same detail and pride of craftsmanship that is in the Amish furniture<\/a> we sell.<\/p>\n

And, also, it\u2019s just a good story. We hope you enjoy it.<\/p>\n
