JMX Brands Makes Florida Growth “Watch” List

JMX Brands is among 50 statewide companies expected to see significant growth over the next several years. JMX Brands was selected from more than 500 nominees for Florida Companies to Watch, a statewide program managed by economic development group GrowFL, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation.

JMX Brands, the largest Web retailer of Amish furniture at www.dutchcrafters.com, increased sales from $6 million in 2014 to $7.9 million in 2015. Entrepreneur Jim Miller combined his Mennonite heritage and Amish connections with a Web-savvy business model to develop a company that has made several lists for its fast growth, including Furniture Today’s Top Furniture eTailers, Internet Retailer’s Second 500, Business Observer’s Gulf Coast 500 and the Inc. 5000.

“These stand-out companies are all led by entrepreneurs, and have demonstrated their capacity and intent to grow,” said Dr. Tom O’Neal, executive director of the Florida Economic Gardening Institute and associate vice president for the University of Central Florida’s Office of Research and Commercialization. “They also all have critical intellectual property or a niche position that gives them a competitive edge in their markets,” he said.

Though primarily a Web-based retailer, JMX Brands understands the importance of building relationships, both with its craftsmen and customers. JMX Brands’ focus is on customer service, including continuously improving website functionality, communicating with customers on unique platforms such as Polyvore and Houzz, and providing furniture specialists who answer detailed questions and help customers with specific requests.

As a continued commitment to its customers, JMX Brands has gone from “clicks to bricks” by opening a furniture store in Sarasota, Fla. This newly remodeled 5,000-square-foot store showcases popular Amish furniture and provides the opportunity to speak in person with a furniture specialist and compare wood finish and fabric samples.

“We are honored to be recognized by GrowFL as a company to watch,” said JMX Brands owner and CEO Jim Miller. “We believe our continued success is grounded in our commitment to combining an heirloom-quality product in Amish furniture with a high-tech, personalized shopping experience.”
