One Order, One Tree: DutchCrafters Partners with American Forests to Plant Trees in the United States

Debra Gingerich 23/04/2021

Together with partner American Forests, DutchCrafters Amish Furniture is committing to plant one tree for every order. DutchCrafters, the largest online retailer of Amish furniture at www.dutchcrafters.com and daughter company of JMX Brands, is beginning this tree-planting initiative on Earth Day 2021.

Sustainability is one of the core values at DutchCrafters and the company sells furniture with the environment in mind. For years this company has created furniture made of reclaimed, recycled, or responsibly sourced materials.

“Earth Day marks the next step in our journey to sustainability,” said CEO and Founder Jim Miller. “This partnership with American Forests allows us to give back in a way that directly impacts the effects of the furniture industry. We are grateful to be able to support the health of our forests and for the opportunity to expand our sustainability efforts at DutchCrafters.”

In an industry where cheap particle-board furniture floods the landfill, DutchCrafters is dedicated to changing the furniture industry as a part of the slow furniture movement. Solid wood furniture is long-lasting, durable, and lasts for generations. However, creating these high-quality pieces requires trees.

For every DutchCrafters order, the company will fund the planting of a tree in the United States through American Forests. The trees will help restore forest landscapes that are essential to wildlife and human health.

“In the U.S., forests and wood products store roughly 15% of U.S carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels each year. That’s why partnering with DutchCrafters makes perfect sense,” said Eric Sprague, American Forests’ vice president of forest restoration. “Storing carbon in long-lived wood products like furniture and reforestation are cornerstone natural climate solutions.”

American Forests is the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the United States. Since 1875, they have been the pathfinders for creating healthy forests from coast to coast. In the early 1900s, they rallied forest advocates to champion creation of the U.S. Forest Service. In 2018, their decade-long campaign came to fruition as Congress provided stable funding for preventing and fighting forest fires.

“DutchCrafters is thrilled to partner with American Forests,” said Miller.  “They are experts in forestry conservation and are leaders in creating a sustainable future, which is closely aligned with values of JMX Brands and DutchCrafters.”

As the company continues to make environmentally-conscious choices, DutchCrafters encourages customers to join them in giving back to help American forests thrive.

About American Forests

American Forests inspires and advances the conservation of forests, which are essential to life. We do this by protecting and restoring threatened forest ecosystems, promoting and expanding urban forests, and increasing understanding of the importance of forests. Founded in 1875, American Forests is the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the country and has served as a catalyst for many key milestones in the conservation movement, including the founding of the U.S. Forest Service, thousands of forest ecosystem restoration projects and public education efforts. Since 1990, American Forests has planted more than 65 million trees in all 50 states and nearly 50 countries, resulting in cleaner air and drinking water, restored habitat for wildlife and fish, and the removal of millions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
