Features and Options

Using solid aromatic cedar with a clear finish gives you the beautiful color variations. These chests come standard with a folding lid support, a lock, scalloped feet, and a gently rounded top. Consider adding on a cedar sliding tray for organized storage of your smaller items. We also have options such as a chest front design, casters, dovetailed joints, and a brass plate engraving.

If you select to have a Brass Plaque, expect a call within 24 hours to receive your engraving message. This plaque will be mounted on the inside of the lid unless otherwise specified.

We have a long-standing tradition of giving a hope chest upon high school graduation. It’s a beautiful, functional, sentimental piece of “real furniture” for the grad to carry into adulthood. Sadly when our daughter graduated in May of 2020 after so many other things had been canceled and taken away we realized this other furniture maker had gone out of business and we thought our tradition of hope chests had also now come to an end. That’s when we found Dutch Crafters online. We were elated at the options to customize size, trimmings, and personalization. We placed our order over the phone and the process was so simple. We happily waited with anticipation for our heirloom piece to be lovingly made by hand. Throughout the process Dutch Crafters kept us updated and informed of the progress. When at last it arrived (packaged very carefully for shipping) it was more beautiful than we could have imagined and we could see it was made impeccably well. We could not be happier that our daughter is able to continue this family tradition and go forward into adulthood with this simply gorgeous, functional, sentimental handmade piece. Call it a hope chest, a blanket chest, or simply a trunk, it will always be a reminder of home. We are so very happy to have found DutchCrafters online and continue our family tradition. A beautiful piece of furniture need not be gendered as everyone starting out in life needs furniture and needs storage. DutchCrafters is a lovely company to work with for quality, heirloom furniture. Their pieces take time but they are more than worth the wait.
Chest looks great and looks like I imagined. Great product. A little long to get but worth it (right in the middle of pandemic). Still faster than I would have thought for that.
