Murphy Bed Size & Orientation

Materials Used
The murphy wall bed is a unique piece of Amish craftsmanship because of all the moving parts! This piece uses spring mechanisms, steel brackets, and a folding metal leg. These pieces of hardware are integral to the design. However, the bulk of the piece is what you’d expect from Amish furniture: solid hardwood with high-grade hardwood plywood used where necessary.
The unique feature of this piece is the shiplap back. Where many wall beds open into a bed and the wall is visible through the frame, this one comes complete with shiplap slats covering the wall and creating a cohesive, attractive finish in the bed orientation. So, whether in use as a bed or as a desk, this DutchCrafters Exclusive is something to admire.
Assembling the DutchCrafters Wall Bed
Three DutchCrafters employees met in the DutchCrafters Sarasota Showroom to assemble this murphy bed, armed with a drill, studfinder, screwdrivers, a drill bit, a tape measure, wrenches, and a square.
Perhaps the trickiest part of the assembly is ensuring that none of the freshly-finished wood is damaged during construction. Lay down blankets or assemble on a carpet or rug if possible. Then it’s time to get to work!
