Table & Main Receives Michelin Recognition with DutchCrafters Chair Upgrade

Table & Main is a neighborhood restaurant focusing on simple, seasonal Southern food. We’ve been open since 2011, so 13 years. We feature elevated takes on Southern comfort food classics,” said Ryan, Owner-Operator at R.O. Hospitality.

The company operates two restaurants in Roswell, Georgia, and recently upgraded to DutchCrafters seats in their Southern Tavern, Table & Main. He shared about his restaurant and his experience working with DutchCrafters.

We call it simple, seasonal Southern.

Seeking a Chair Upgrade

As we cast around to elevate and upgrade certain parts of the restaurant, we aimed to make it feel a little more modern and a little less country chic. We seized on the idea of changing out the chairs, which we’ve had since we opened. We did a lot of research, most of it online.

Needs for New Chair

I’m pretty particular about the things we put in the restaurant, particularly anything that guests interact with as much as their seat. You’re in it for a good hour and a half, so it needed to be comfortable.

Finding the Right Chair

When I found DutchCrafters, which was located the next town over, I noticed a lot of their items fit that country farmhouse chic look. However, these chairs had a more modern, almost Scandinavian, minimalistic design, which I really liked.

The Amish Atkinson Side Dining Chair, custom ordered by Table & Main in 2024, are a popular choice for shoppers drawn to modern design. On the product page, the chair is shown in a medium-tone wood with blue upholstered cushions on the seat.

However, with the help of the furniture specialists at the Alpharetta Amish Furniture Showroom, Ryan was able to customize this chair to fit his needs. He ordered the chair without cushions and stained it dark to meet the style the restaurant needed.

Customizing the Atkinson Side Chair

Because we are a restaurant, the chairs needed to stand up to restaurant use.

We carefully selected the type of wood, the thickness, and the stain. These chairs are ebony—a dark, dark, dark brown that reads as black at night when we’re open.

They hit all my goals for this aesthetic change, in terms of both performance for our needs as a restaurant and complementing the food that we serve.

Achieving Michelin Recognition

Just two days ago, we were awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for Woody’s cooking, as well as for the feel of the neighborhood restaurant we’ve created.

The seats play a significant role in that. When a guest walks in, they’re processing a million different cues to determine whether they like the place. All of those elements influence whether someone is happy or not.

Visiting Table & Main

Now that we’ve addressed the biggest change—the chairs, which are massively better—we’re looking to incorporate other small, incremental changes to enhance our guests’ experiences, make people happier, and reinforce the sense of place.

We’ve been at this for 13 years, strongly focused on community involvement. And if you need another reason to visit, the fried chicken is to die for.
