A storage bed has every reason to feel substantial, but it doesn't have to look heavy. The Amish Alex Craftsman Solid Wood Platform Storage Bed balances impressive bedroom storage with an open headboard design that adds an unexpected sense of space.   The headboard is what first sets the platform bed apart. A broad, solid wood panel provides a handsome backdrop for pillows and bedding, while two open sections across the top break up the expanse of hardwood. That open detail allows the headboard to feel taller and more architectural without becoming visually overwhelming. A substantial cap rail completes the look with the straightforward character associated with Craftsman furniture.   Below the mattress, the bed transforms otherwise unused space into valuable storage. Six full-extension side-mounted drawers are built directly into the platform base, giving you room for extra bedding, seasonal clothing, sweaters, shoes, and other belongings that might otherwise consume closet or dresser space. For smaller bedrooms or homes where storage is at a premium, the bed allows one piece of furniture to do considerably more.   The styling brings together Craftsman simplicity and rustic hardwood character. Strong horizontal and vertical lines frame the natural variation in the wood, while the open headboard introduces a lighter visual element. The result works beautifully in Craftsman, Mission-inspired, rustic, and transitional bedrooms where genuine materials and purposeful design matter.   Each Alex Storage Bed is bench-built by Amish craftspeople from your choice of available North American hardwoods. Select the bed size, wood species, and finish that create the atmosphere you want. The bed can take on a dramatically different personality depending on those choices, from warm and relaxed to deep, rich, and dramatic.   The real appeal of the bed is how much it accomplishes without sacrificing its identity as beautiful bedroom furniture.
