The Ultimate Backyard Buffet: The Amish Poly Split Peanut Bird Feeder with 2 Suet Cages
Prepare for an avian spectacle! Watching birds skillfully maneuver to get at their favorite treats is one of the greatest joys of backyard birding – and our Amish Poly Split Peanut Bird Feeder with 2 Suet Cages is specifically designed to deliver a double dose of delight! This ingenious feeder creates a high-energy, multi-cuisine dining experience that will have your garden's most athletic residents performing acrobatics. This feeder offers the best of both worlds for birds with hearty appetites. The central area of the poly feeder is perfectly sized for split peanuts (without shells), a protein-packed favorite for many birds. Flanking this central hub are two sturdy side cages, ready to be filled with your preferred suet mix. The unique combination of peanuts and suet caters to a wider variety of birds, ensuring a vibrant and busy feeding station. Our Amish craftsmen, with their keen eye for detail and decades of experience, have perfected this design. The galvanized peanut mesh features precisely measured 3/8'' squares. This specific size was rigorously tested by the craftsman and his family to ensure it's ideal for birds to easily extract the nutrient-rich peanuts, while also being durable enough to withstand vigorous pecking and all types of weather. Watching your garden's most athletic residents work to free these delicious foods from within the durable cages is endlessly entertaining! Why Birds Love This Feast:
- Split Peanuts: These are a fantastic source of protein and fat, beloved by woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, titmice, jays, and even some finches and cardinals. They're also less messy than whole peanuts with shells.
- Suet Cakes: Made from rendered animal fat, suet is a high-energy powerhouse, crucial for birds – especially insect-eaters – during cold months and demanding nesting seasons. It attracts woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, wrens, and more.

The tray feeders arrived without damage (sooner than expected) thanks to good packaging by DutchCrafters.
The product quality was excellent. I was impressed and I highly recommend these feeder trays. However, if you have large animals visiting, I recommend making some modifications.
I had a large raccoon get up in one of the trays and its weight was enough to pull the perforated metal out of its slot in the side rail. I took the tray apart, straightened up the metal, and then put it back together. I then reinforced the bottom with 1/2" X 2" painted oak boards (I didn't have polly lumber) and attached them with 1/8" X 1.5" epoxy coated exterior wood screws. For good measure, I added two 1/8" X 2" screws in each leg for additional support.
Again, I highly recommend this product. Just know they aren't designed to carry the weight of large animals.
