A Rocker Shaped by Nature

The distinctive back begins with a single hickory branch selected by an Amish woodworker in Northern Indiana. Measuring approximately 35 inches long and 1½ inches in diameter, the branch is carefully cut into five live-edge slats of equal thickness. The widest center cut becomes the middle back slat, while the narrower pieces are arranged around it to create a naturally balanced design. In many chairs, all five slats come from the same branch, preserving its individual shape and character across the entire back.   Hickory twigs are steam-bent to form the flowing arms, supports and decorative trim. This traditional process allows the wood to curve without losing its natural, rustic appearance while also helping protect it from insects. Variations in knots, bark, color, and shape ensure that no two rocking chairs will ever be exactly alike.
