North Pole Bedroom Furniture Collection is a family-owned woodshop in the arcadian lands of Amish country in rural Ohio. The family has worked in the business of handcrafting heirloom-quality Amish furniture, harvested locally from the finest hardwood trees, since 1991. Today, there are seven employees, including family members and neighbors who live within walking distance to the 4,000 square foot space that combines two woodshops under one roof.

Andy, a skilled woodworker and the owner’s father-in-law, enjoys sharing the story of the family business almost as much as he enjoys building solid wood furniture. He says his favorite wood type to work with is rustic quarter sawn oak, and he likes the way adding rustic cherry stain finish highlights the prominent wood grain that makes oak so appealing. The quarter sawn technique enhances the aesthetic effect of the palpable wood grain that characterizes oak.

Andy’s favorite furniture style to build is Mission—also a popular style choice with customers ordering furniture from the North Pole Collection. This is a woodshop that builds every piece of furniture on site without ordering anything from other sources. They make all pieces of their units from start to finish, including the hand-rubbed finishing stain color of your choice to bring out the wood’s natural beauty.
