The Amish vendor behind the Contemporary Classics Collection got his start operating a distribution yard for a national wholesale lumber provider. He worked in sales and delivery for about 25 years, and this helped him learn the furniture industry, taking notice of what sold well and what was missing. He wanted to design new styles with a more modern look. He helped different Amish woodshops with updating their traditional styles, and it was during this work that he created his own line of wood furniture. His niche involves adding new functional designs not typically found in Shaker or Mission styles.
With a focus on Arts & Crafts style, a number of pieces were created for this collection, paying homage to the builder’s father, whose token phrase, “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right,” stayed with him. The design from this collection that the builder is most proud of is the Renwick, named after his father. His son and wife are involved in the business too, contributing to transporting products and bookkeeping.
Contemporary Classics furniture is built in a mid-sized shop, with a finish shop also on the property. Great care is taken to use the wood to create the least amount of waste. This woodworker likes working with rustic quarter sawn white oak wood the best. He remembers in the past when rustic woods were considered waste, and now as rustic styles are embraced, rustic woods are used for many designs.
The handsome furniture in this collection is built slowly and with intention. There’s the Arts & Crafts quality built into new contemporary designs. Just the right accent table can add what you’re looking for in your living room or office. There are bookcases, desks and living room seating options that are unique and strong.
This contemporary collection of Amish furniture achieves new looks with designs to fit a variety of room scenes. It’s easy to order samples and bring home custom furniture from this Amish furniture collection that values a quality build above all else.
