Inspiration from the NIWA Expo
The Northern Indiana Woodcrafters Association (NIWA) is a group of over 80 dedicated Amish furniture builders who sell to retailers across the U.S. and Canada. Their mission is to build “beautiful and unique furniture and accessories for generations of enjoyment.”
Once a year, members of association gather under one roof to exhibit new furniture and old favorites for retailers.
This year a few of our team members attended the invitation-only event, held at the end of February just a few miles from Shipshewana, IN.

Attending the expo gives us the opportunity to watch for developing trends; see, feel, and test pieces for ourselves; meet new potential vendors; and catch up with our current Indiana vendors and their families in person.

We’re giving you a glimpse into the two-day event by showcasing some of our favorite new products. Maybe you’ll find inspiration for your next home makeover project.
For the Kitchen
Amish Newbury Kitchen Island
We all gasped at the beauty of the Newbury Kitchen Island. Featuring five cabinets with doors and an overhanging counter top on one side, shelves on the left and right sides, and a bench seat with drawers underneath, we fell in love with it because of all its storage options and versatility.
Add barstools under the overhanging countertop for a place to sit while preparing dinner or where the kids can do homework. Or, place a dining table and chairs in front of the bench seat to create a dining space for the whole family.
Amish Concord Butcher Block Kitchen Island
We love that the Amish Concord Butcher Block Kitchen Island takes up little room, but provides the perfect amount of space to cut up the ingredients for your next meal. It also includes a drawer with a built-in knife organizer, a towel holder, and a shelf for cookbooks or anything else you like to keep close at hand when preparing meals.
For the Dining Room
Reclaimed Wood Lynchburg Trestle Table
Made from century-old reclaimed barn wood, we love how the Lynchburg Trestle Table was shown in a more standard color rather than with a lot of variation. This makes the table a great choice for anyone looking for a rustic feel, but not as much of a rustic look.
The Lynchburg can be customized with up to two 16″ skirted extensions. It also pairs well with our Amish Sheldon Parsons Chair; which helps refine the rustic feel of the table.
Amish Normandy Pedestal Dining Table
We were so in awe of the impressive base and elegant styling of the Normandy Pedestal Dining Table that we purchased it at the show for the our Sarasota, FL showroom.

Shown in brown maple wood, with the table top finished in river rock and the base finished in sandstone, the table top can be made in four different sizes. The optional extendable top can be made with standard gear or ball bearing equalizer slides.
Amish Saratoga Single Pedestal Dining Table
We jumped for joy when we saw that one of our most popular styles, the Amish Saratoga Trestle Table, was made into a single pedestal version.
The Amish Saratoga Single Pedestal Dining Table is a great option if you love the base of the trestle table but don’t have a large dining room.
For the Living Room
Rustic Log TV Cabinet with Electric Fireplace
Thanks to the popularity of rustic furniture, the demand for log furniture has seen a resurgence. Therefore, furniture designers are creating new designs with log.
The Rustic Log TV Cabinet is our first log furniture TV stand that also has a built-in electric fireplace. It features glass door display cabinets, a drawer perfect for storing remotes, and an open shelf for a DVD player or cable box.
The Amish Cambridge TV Stand
What drew us to the Cambridge TV Stand are the steel cross bars. If you like industrial style, but are afraid to take the complete plunge, the Cambridge is an understated way to add the modern look to your home. The stand also includes a full extension drawer to help you keep the remotes all in one place.
The Denali Entertainment Center
Raise your hand if you enjoy a glass of wine in front of the TV every once in a while. We certainly do, and that’s why we had to showcase the Amish Denali Entertainment Center. Besides being beautifully constructed, it comes built with a pullout stemware holder and wine storage.
The Barrington Recliner
The reason we couldn’t take our eyes off the Barrington Recliner is because it combines Mission style with gentle curves. This is a design choice that is not often seen in Mission furniture.
The Barrington comes standard with a spring seat bottom, but can be custom-made with a motorized power recline.
For the Gun Enthusiast
The Amish Mount Holly 12 Gun Cabinet
The Mount Holly 12 Gun Cabinet caught our attention because it has display cases for both shotguns and handguns. Both display cases have door locks, and the cabinet features LED touch lights. The cabinet also has a full extension soft close drawer for ammunition storage.
Coming Soon
We’re so excited to soon have fabric-covered headboards available on our website that we’re giving you a sneak peak.
Keep an eye out for more new products from the show, as well as from our vendors in Ohio and Pennsylvania, in the new arrivals section of our updated Amish Furniture Learning Center.
