Furniture Delivery Tips & Tricks
As you shop at DutchCrafters and prepare for the delivery of your furniture, here are some helpful tips to be sure the furniture will fit into your home and the space you have selected for it.
Moving Furniture into Your Home
Consider all of the spaces that your furniture will pass through to be placed in your home. Take the dimensions for the furniture and compare them to those spaces. Start with the entrance to your home. Measure the width and height of all entrances. Include any obstructions such as doorknobs or lights in your measurements.
If the furniture needs to go through an enclosed area such as an elevator, measure the dimensions of that space to be sure the furniture will fit.
Measure your interior doorways, hallways and stairways just as you did your front entrance. Again, take into account any obstacles, such as hand rails, that cannot be removed. Note any tight turns or low ceiling heights and measure to ensure your furniture can be moved through those spaces.
Furniture Placement in the Room
To determine where to place your furniture in a room, consider the access you need to fixtures like electrical outlets or heating vents.
You may want to create a scaled drawing of the room and cut out your pieces of furniture using the same scale. Move your furniture cutouts on your room drawing to see how the pieces fit.
You can also measure out and tape off the space your furniture will occupy to help visualize it in place!
Don’t Forget to Plan Ahead!
With this preparation, you can feel confident that you have chosen the right furniture for your space, and that it can be delivered with ease.

My front door is 36 inches wide.
Great. That’s the standard width in America and nearly all furniture is designed to fit through a 36-inch opening. Unfortunately, screen doors, objects around the door frame, and tight turns inside the door can all cause challenges, so we recommend considering those potential obstructions as well. Best of luck with your furniture!
I have 36” door and 72 “ door. Thank you so much
